Nightclub brings 200 jobs to First Coast | Video

By TRACY COLLINS, The Times-Union

Fred Khalilian, left, is the owner of the Club Paris nightclub chain. He is working with Toney Sleiman, right, owner of The Jacksonville Landing, to bring the nightclub and 200 jobs to Jacksonville.

Scheduled to open June 30 for a V.I.P. party and July 1 for the general public, Jacksonville Landing's newest tenant, Club Paris, is looking to hire around 200 men and women for positions ranging from bartenders to calendar models.

The club will host a job fair in the courtyard of the Landing on Sunday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applicants are expected to bring a generic job application from any office supply store.

During a video interview last week, club owner Fred Khalilian said he estimates about 10,000 locals will apply.

"We had 5,000 people show up in Orlando," Khalilian said. "As of Monday, we've already had over 3,900 inquiries e-mail us asking when we are going to be hiring."

Originally, Khalilian reported around 2,000 Jacksonville locals had sent in requests; but in less than a week, he reported back that the number had nearly doubled. In addition to the bartenders, hosts, security, management and more, Club Paris is also looking for reality show candidates.

According to Khalilian, a six-episode reality show will be shot during the final weeks of opening the club, highlighting the craziness that surrounds trying to open an establishment of this caliber in a limited amount time.

He would not say which network planned to air the show but said they will start production on the project soon.
